Bayern Munich president hits back at Eintracht Frankfurt over Niko Kovac signing

Niko Kovac

Kovac is now in charge of fellow Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt but has been announced to replace Jupp Heynckes when the latter retires at the end of the current campaign.

The 72-year-old will end his third spell in charge of the club this summer and there has been much discussion surrounding who will take over at the end of the season.

The decision to appoint Kovac marks a change of approach for success-driven Bayern, who had previously opted for big-name coaches.

Here are three winners and three losers.

Just like when Guardiola succeeded Heynckes in 2013, Kovac could potentially start work after a treble-winning campaign, with Bayern having already secured the Bundesliga title, their sixth consecutive league crown. "I hope that's a good omen".

Treble-chasing Bayern face Bayer Leverkusen in the German Cup semi-final on Tuesday - and Real Madrid in the Champions League last four the following week.

"I received a call (from Bayern) yesterday and a contract offer", Kovac told reporters. Kovac had a deal through June 2019 with his current club.

In CWG 2010, New Delhi , India won the maximum medals, when massive 600-plus strong members competed to bag 101 medals. He was a part of the gold medal-winning men's team and also won silver in the men's doubles event.

They were rewarded with the lead as Drmic cut inside and finished with aplomb as Bayern laboured following their Champions League exploits.

When asked about his successor, Heynckes said: "Niko Kovac is a good choice, he is doing a very good job at Eintracht Frankfurt".

After former Dortmund coach Thomas Tuchel rejected an offer, announcing he will join a big European club overseas. "One has to accept that, but it's not a problem for us".

After retiring Kovac was briefly an assistant coach in Austria and took over Croatia before signing with relegation-threatened Eintracht Frankfurt in 2016 and turning them into Champions League contenders this season.

Leverkusen stay fourth in the Bundesliga, now five points ahead of their opponents as well as Hoffenheim, who moved above Frankfurt on goal difference after first-half goals from Serge Gnabry and Adam Szalai gave them a 2-0 win against struggling Hamburg. Frankfurt are mired in a knife-edge battle for Champions league qualification and bosses fear the news could derail their season at a crucial stage.

But, there is the risk that their final weeks of the season could see a downturn in form as Kovac's mind begins to shift towards Bayern - who Frankfurt could go up against in the DFB-Pokal final should they win their respective semi-finals.
