CWG 2018: Wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Sumit clinch Gold, Sakshi Malik gets Bronze

Commonwealth Games 2018 Day 10 Indian wrestlers deliver 2 gold and 2 bonze

After a disappointing outing at the 2016 Olympics where Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat was stretchered off due to an injury, she bounced back strongly this time at the 2018 Gold Coast CWG to secure a Gold in the Women's 50 kg category today.

And as fate would have it, Phogat managed to clinch Gold by beating Canadian opponent Jessica Macdonald in stunning fashion in the final bout.

Although, Olympic bronze medalist Sakshi Malik faced a defeat against Aminat Adeniyi of Nigeria 3-6 in 62kg freestyle wrestling.

The day started with Mary Kom winning the gold medal in the women's boxing 45-48kg category in her maiden Commonwealth Games appearance.

Malik had to cling on for dear life in the last 20 seconds, and showed exceptional strength in preventing Ford from flipping her over.

Sumit defeated Pakistan's Tayab Raza 10-4 in a dramatic bout. Another walkover for the gold medallist Sumit Malik in the competition as Sinivie Boltic was Injured earlier.

Malik hails from Karor in Haryana's Rohtak district and had won a silver at both the Asian and Commonwealth championships past year. Now India's medal tally has swelled to 59.

Somveer won a bronze in the men's 86kg category after prevailing over Alexander Moore of Canada. Then comes the finals of men's 46-49 kg, men's 52 kg and 60 kg which will feature Amit Panghal, Gaurav Solanki and Manish Kaushik.
