West Michigan students want Bill Huizenga to talk about gun control

Governor Phil Murphy signs executive order at Asbury Park Middle School

"It sounds nearly condescending to say that I am proud of these students, but I am", Hewitt said.

Students Evan Kerr, Makayla Sharkey, Kailyn Erb and Jordan Michelena listen to the panel during the Town Hall for our Lives event Saturday at the El Rey Theatre in Chico.

A teacher says, "Several weeks ago there was a shooting two blocks from the school that I work at that's in your district Mr. Davison and Mr. Clay". Congressman David McKinley was invited to the town hall but did not attend.

"We said hey, if no one else is going to do it we have to do it", said Akilesh Ramakrishna, a junior at Clarence high school.

It was organized by The Town Hall Project, which helped organize the March for Our Lives demonstrations that took place around the country in late March to end gun violence in schools. But why is it that an 11-year-old understands the need for sensible gun laws, but many Republicans do not? A police officer who had stopped Castile's vehicle shot Castile after Castile told the officer he had a firearm in his auto. Not because I'm thinking about an action I have done; I fear a police stopping me and finding a reason that what I'm doing is punishable.

Yet in Baltimore and many other United States cities, mandatory minimum sentences for gun violence has proven ineffective in reducing violent crime.

Turning in those guns can keep them out of the hands of young people or keep young people from falling victim to gun violence.

During the town hall meeting, attendees were asked to hold up green cards for issues or solutions they agree with or red cards for those they did not.

Liverpool FC are on course to finish in the Premier League's top four for the second successive season. With a striker in such red-hot form Liverpool won't fear anyone in the Champions League semi-finals.

The general public likely isn't aware they can seek a gun violence restraining order, said Assistant District Attorney Scott Spielman. "We are running away from people like you". It's such a melting pot of different opinions.

"One of the most exciting things about it is how the [students] who have been organizing have been making very real efforts to connect the shooting in Parkland to all the other forms of gun violence", Dombroe said.

Each candidate was given time for an opening statement, to give their opinion on gun control.

"It's ridiculous to hear all of us to come together as one", student organizer Jimmy Willis said.

Our children are telling us they are frightened and that they need change. The answer is - more gun laws. I think that's a problem. "My dad is still a police officer so every single night when I was a kid I laid awake wondering if my dad would make it home, and I was not anxious about someone stabbing him". I like target shooting.

As mass shootings continue, Wisconsin, national gun control debates remain polarizedMass shootings have become a norm in America.

"They (politicians) know from every election in the past they can get NRA money and they can get NRA votes and they don't believe you're going to show up".

The event was meant to address solutions and open discussions surrounding gun violence. "This is not a matter of if, it's a matter of when gun violence will impact each and everyone of us". We are proud to have joined the 2 million Americans who rallied and marched that Saturday. People have their 14th Amendment right to due process.
