To-Dallas Southwest Airlines flight diverted to Albuquerque after smoke fills cabin

Video has emerged of passengers frantically racing to get off a Southwest Airlines 737 that had just made an emergency landing in Albuquerque. It did not confirm reports of two people being rushed to the local hospital.

Passengers said they could feel heat from the vents shortly before the crew said the plane was going to make an emergency landing. The diverted aircraft was held in Albuquerque until mechanics cleared its return to service.

According to the Albuquerque Fire Department, two people were taken to nearby hospital.

According to KRQE-TV, Southwest flight 3562 took off from Phoenix last night and was headed for Dallas Love Field Airport.

The statement added there were 140 passengers onboard the plane when the incident occurred, all of whom were evacuated from the aircraft upon landing. Initial reports indicate five Customers requested an assessment by medical personnel. No word on the extent of their injuries.

Passengers were put on another aircraft in New Mexico to continue to their final destination.

Southwest is the largest airline operating out of Tampa International Airport.

The Boeing 737 was en route to Dallas from Phoenix when it had to be diverted to Albuquerque, due to what could have been an electrical fire, according to NBC 4 NY.
