Centre collects revenue from south, spends on north: Andhra CM Chandrababu Naidu

Black day, blot for democracy: Congress on passage of Finance Bill amid din

"That is not your money or our money". It's people's money, paid as taxes.

Andhra CM, who was addressing state legislative council in Amravati on Monday said, The states in southern India contribute maximum revenues to the Centre, but the money gets diverted to Northern states instead of us.

Chandrababu Naidu said that he recalled PM Modi's speech in which he said that "the Congress killed the mother (Andhra Pradesh) by delivering a baby (Telangana)".

The Andhra Pradesh Assembly on Tuesday adopted a resolution strongly condemning the indifferent attitude of the Centre in fulfilling the promises made in the AP Reorganisation Act, including special category status to the state.

The AAP too joined the protests in Rajya Sabha, demanding an end to the sealing drive in Delhi.

The chief minister indicated that the Andhra sentiment could be fully exploited in the next elections so as to counter the BJP onslaught. "Our alliance is on, but we will still fight (for securing the state's rights from the Centre)", he said. In his most severe remarks since the ties between both TDP and BJP have worsened, he reminded finance minister Aurn Jaitley that statehood for Telangana was granted as it was the sentiment of people, indirectly hinting that AP's sentiments also should be respected. "You cant forget that fact". Naidu was responding to Jaitley's comments that funds, support from centre and special status can not be possible based on the political sentiments in the state.

"There is nothing called Central money or state's money". The sentiments of the Andhra has to be addressed by Chandrababu Naidu, and in these circumstances, unless we support our people, we hear them out and work for it, it does not make sense.

He, however, had promised Andhra Pradesh funds equivalent to what a special category state receives and said his government was committed to meeting all promises made to Andhra Pradesh at the time of carving out Telengana.
