Speaking in a joint press conference alongside Swedish Prime Minister Stefan Löfven, Trump said the United States has been treated unfairly by other countries in trade situations, specifically citing barriers put in place by the European Union.

"The Russians had no impact on our votes whatsoever, but certainly there was meddling and probably there was meddling from other countries and maybe other individuals, and I think you have to be really watching very closely", Trump said. "We're going to straighten it out and we'll do it in a very loving way", Trump said.

As to whether he is anxious about Russian interference in the 2018 elections, "No", said Trump.

"We'll counteract it very strongly", Trump said. And I think it's the best way to go. The people over there understand I'm right'.

In questioning Trump's commitment to stopping the Russians, Democrats pointed to recent testimony by National Security Agency chief Mike Rogers, who said Trump has not ordered the U.S. Cyber Command to disrupt Russian cyberthreats that may be supported by President Vladimir Putin. "Nobody got that. I think they're honest because of the sanctions".

"Hope is outstanding and has done great work for the last three years", Trump said in a statement Wednesday. "A lot of states are doing that".

"The trade war hurts them it doesn't hurt us", he added.

President Trump addressed potential talks with the North Koreans while welcoming Sweden's prime minister in the Oval Office.

Sweden has taken a proportionately large number of refugees, primarily from Syria, but the prime minister said early problems have begun smoothing out.

He says he was "one of the first ones to say it", and "took a little heat".

I'm dealing with it every day, allocating more resources to the police, more policemen trained, more resources to the security police, tougher law on crime, tougher law on terrorism, supporting terrorism.
