Ta-Nehisi Coates Is Taking Over The Captain America Comic

This summer, I'm entering a new one-the world of Captain America.

Coates, a national correspondent for The Atlantic and author of several books, including the National Book Award-winning "Between the World and Me", has authored Marvel Comics' "Black Panther" series since 2016. According to Coates, Leinil Yu is now set as the series's full-time artist, and Alex Ross will provide the series's covers.

According to Coates, the idea was first suggested by former Marvel editor-in-chief Axel Alonso, and Coates has wrestled with what to do with it ever since.

"Writing is about questions for me-not answers", Coates wrote. And 'Captain America, ' the embodiment of a kind of Lincolnesque optimism, poses a direct question for me: "Why would anyone believe in The Dream?" says Coates. He makes it clear he's not leaving Black Panther behind, but the opportunity to also work on Captain America was exciting.

It's hard to overstate how fertile the thematic ground is here.

Packers' Veteran Contracts Not a Priority Just yet
But we need outside resources, we've determined that. "And we'll see what happens". On another photo showing the Packers linking arms protest, Terez Owens said T.J.

Just last week, it was announced that current Black Panther scribe, National Magazine Award and National Book Award victor Ta-Nehisi Coates would be rebooting the series, featuring Wakanda in space. That should be interesting. "Conspirators against him rank all the way up to the White House, causing Rogers to, at one point, reject the very title of Captain America", Coates pointed out.

In the essay, Coates, who will continue his work on the Black Panther series, explained his gravitation toward the story of Captain America, a beacon of patriotism and symbol of the "American dream". "There has always been a complaint among black comic creators that they are restricted to black characters", notes Coates.

Coates is the author of another Marvel series, too: Black Panther. "What is exciting is the possibility of exploration, of avoiding the repetition of a voice I've exhausted of". I have my share of strong opinions about the world. "And our launch is timed perfectly for release on the Fourth of July!".

Be sure to hit your local comic shop or anywhere new comics are sold (including digital) to see what the latest era holds for Steve Rogers when Captain America #1 goes on sale July 4. Check out Ross' full cover for the first issue up top, and then below is Leinil's back cover art of he and Coates' first Cap story in the Avengers/Captain America Free Comic Book Day issue available May 5.
