A college football player from Maryland who was left paralyzed after being shot at a New Year's Eve party in Anne Arundel County has passed away. Aaron was shot shielding his girlfriend after gunfire broke out during a party in Severn on January 1.

Aaron was reportedly attending a party in Severn, Maryland with his girlfriend when a fight led to gunfire, and a flying bullet hit Aaron while he was standing by a wall.

"His loss will be felt in every corner of the program, and his spirit will never be forgotten".

Aaron's injuries were not initially considered life-threatening, though they did paralyze him from the waist down.

Larry Aaron, Jr., father of Larry Aaron III, said later in an interview that the actions spoke volumes about his son's caring and demeanor. He played in Marshall's 31-28 victory against Colorado State in the Gildan New Mexico Bowl on December 6, recording one stop.

Marshall Athletics will have a fundraiser Saturday evening at the men's basketball game against Charlotte. The school is selling "93strong" T-shirts for $20; Aaron wore No. 93.

The 6-foot-5, 272-pound defensive tackle from Columbia, Md., recorded 13 tackles, including 0.5 tackles for loss, in eight games for the Herd during his redshirt freshman season in 2017. Both Rembert and Aaron came to Marshall from Oakland Mills High School.
