New Zealand PM Ardern pregnant with 1st child

As new Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern comes to terms with motherhood we must not forget the man who will be working just

The popular politician, 37, is one of few elected leaders who have held office while pregnant, and the first in New Zealand's history.

And we thought 2017 was a big year! However, when that the expecting mother in question is New Zealand's Prime Minister, it seems that the floodgates are suddenly open for criticism and derision.

New Zealand's prime minister announced on Friday that she is expecting her first child in June.

Ardern said she planned to work until the end of her pregnancy in June and then take a leave of six weeks, during which time Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters would run the country. "I'll be Prime Minister AND a mum, and Clarke will be "first man of fishing" and stay at home dad". "After those six weeks, I will be coming back on deck and dad will be taking over duties as the full-time caregiver", Ardern said. Pakistan's Benazir Bhutto gave birth while she was prime minister in 1990.

She tweeted a picture of two large fishing hooks, one with a smaller hook inside it, in reference to Gayford's career as a television fishing show presenter. "Knowing that so many parents juggle the care of their new babies, we consider ourselves to be very lucky", she said.

The Prime Minister of New Zealand Will Be the First World Leader in Nearly 30 Years to Give Birth While in Office

Ardern said it was "100 percent a surprise" as they had been told they would "need some help".

Ardern revealed on Friday that she had unexpectedly found out she was pregnant on October 13, just six days before she was when New Zealand First Party leader Peters announced he was siding with Labour in post-election negotiations.

Ardern said morning sickness began for her on the day she was sworn in as PM, and had made it hard to keep the secret.

While some close-minded people are around the world are undoubtedly stocking up their underground bunkers for the imminent apocalypse that occurs in June when Jacinda Arden gives birth to her child, others are behaving like rational-minded folks, and eagerly looking forward to seeing New Zealand's Prime Minister welcome a new addition to her family.

Let me just say that I love the way Ardern has approached announcing her baby news - like it's no big deal.
