Tomb Raider movie trailer: NEW teaser lands for Alicia Vikander's Lara Croft

Tomb Raider movie trailer: NEW teaser lands for Alicia Vikander's Lara Croft

Vikander's take on the character is inspired by the game's own reboot, which saw it shift to a more realistic, survival-driven story than the freeroaming, cave-jumping, exploration game we all played back on our older brother's PlayStation 1. A lot of the action sequences in this footage should look very familiar to anyone who has played the games... even if those same sequences ended much worse for some of us.

We have a feeling that Vogel and his cohorts are no match for this tomb raider-in-training, and it should be fun to see how much butt Lara/Vikander kicks along the way.

Alicia Vikander's debut as the iconic video game heroine Lara Croft on the silver screen is just two months away.

Check out the new trailer below. However, my favorite part of the trailer was the song they used which was a different rendition of "Survivor" by Destiny's Child. Felt pretty cheesy, am I the only one that thinks DMX's X Gon Give It To You would've set that thing off? The hard bit? He's on a deadly island packed with gun-toting baddies, led by the dependably-villainous Walton Goggins. Put that on my tombstone.

The official synopsis reads: "Lara Croft is the fiercely independent daughter of an eccentric adventurer who vanished when she was scarcely a teen". The film stars Oscar victor Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina, The Danish Girl) in the lead role, under the direction of Roar Uthaug (The Wave), with Oscar-winner Graham King (The Departed) producing under his GK Films banner. The film¹s production begins on the heels of the 20th anniversary of the wildly popular videogame franchise from Square Enix, Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal.

Starring: Alicia Vikander, Kristin Scott Thomas, Walton Goggins, Nick Frost, Dominic West, Daniel Wu.
