Joe Root and Ben Stokes are among 282 overseas players who will be part of this year's Indian Premier League auction.

Joe Root will be among the high profile worldwide batsmen who will be available to the eight Indian Premier League teams during the mega IPL player auction scheduled in Bangalore on January 27-28.

The full list has already been sent out to the eight franchises.

Among the 1122 players, 281 are capped players while 838 are uncappped, including 778 uncapped Indian players.

The list includes the likes of R Ashwin, KL Rahul, Gautam Gambhir, Harbhajan Singh, Ajinkya Rahane, Rashid Khan, Chris Lynn, Quinton de Kock, Brendon McCullum, Dwayne Bravo, Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard etc.

The timing of the Big Bash League means that Australian players are especially well positioned to leave an impression ahead of the auction with names like Glenn Maxwell and Shane Watson being considered alongside more left-field selections like D'Arcy Short.

Afghanistan and Ireland, the two countries that earned Test status previous year, have entered 13 and 2 players respectively. Lasith Malinga will lead Sri Lanka's entourage that includes Angelo Mathews, the exciting Niroshan Dickwella, and Thisara Perera.

Hashim Amla, Kagiso Rabada, Faf du Plessis and Morne Morkel are some of the South Africans, who are also part of the list.

Kane Williamson, Colin Munro and Tom Latham from New Zealand will add their charm to the league.
