Bills fire Rick Dennison

Bills fire offensive coordinator Rick Dennison after one season

Offensive coordinator Rick Dennison was sacked by the Bills on Friday after Buffalo was bounced from the playoffs and averaged fewer than six points per game over the final eight games of the season. However, the passing game was one of the worst in the league as the Bills mustered just 176.6 yards through the air per contest. There, his offense immediately surged as the Bolts ranked No. 1 in total offense, No. 2 in points-per-game, No. 2 in passing and 15th in rushing in his first year.

This was a rebuilding year for the Bills, and they still managed to end their marathon playoff drought.

"We're not satisfied with the whole offense, and it wasn't just about [quarterback] Tyrod [Taylor]", Bulls GM Brandon Beane said Tuesday, per ESPN. "We have a lot of work to do".

Coach Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane are clearly looking to build a victor modeled after consistency, and Dennison's offense was anything but. "We are far from a finished product".

The move comes five days after Buffalo was ousted in its first playoff appearance in 17 seasons, via a 10-3 loss at Jacksonville in the wild-card round.

Dennison served as offensive coordinator with the Denver Broncos (2006-08, 2015-16) and with the Houston Texans (2010-13).
