African Union demands Donald Trump apologise for 'sh**hole' comments

During a discussion about whether the United States should extend protections for immigrants from El Salvador, Haiti, and some African countries, President Trump reportedly let an obvious observable truth escape his lips before filtering it through the lens of political correctness, allegedly asking, "Why are we having all these people from sh*thole countries come here?"

The director of the ADL's Center on Extremism, Oren Segal, told Newsweek that such Trump remarks are "the engine that fuels white supremacy" in America. "So, it's not just President Trump who doesn't understand that", added Young. [I have] never said 'take them out.' Made up by Dems.

"What makes our city, state and country strong is diversity".

The Republican president has also privately defended his remarks, saying he was only expressing what many people think but will not say about immigrants from economically depressed countries, the Associated Press reported. "There is a serious need for dialogue between the US Administration and the African countries".

The UN diplomats met for an emergency session before issuing a joint statement to demand a "retraction and an apology" from the USA president. He said Trump used the most vulgar term "more than once".

In a video published in the CNN, US senator Dick Durbin said that Trump "said things which were hate-filled, vile, and racist", adding that "I can not believe that in the history of the White House, and that of Office, any president has ever spoken those words".

The president met on Thursday with Senators Lindsey Graham, Republican of SC, and Richard J. Durbin, Democrat of IL.

During a Thursday meeting on immigration with a bipartisan group of lawmakers, Trump criticized protections the U.S. has given to immigrants from various underdeveloped countries.

Mr Durbin said that when Mr Trump was told that the largest groups of immigrants with Temporary Protected Status (TPS) were from El Salvador, Honduras and Haiti, the president responded: "Haitians?"

On Friday morning, Trump tweeted that he used "tough" language at the meeting, but not the reported vulgarity.

Durbin also said that several of his Republican colleagues at the meeting were not pleased with the president's words.

Mr Trump did not initially challenge the comments, but after they were heavily criticised by diplomats, rival politicians and members of his own party, he took to Twitter to deny he had ever used the phrase "sh**hole countries". Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who - without relating the exact details of the President's remarks - said they were not proper.

"The president is in excellent health and I look forward to briefing some of the details on Tuesday", he said in a statement released by the White House. He has also considered recording all his meetings to prevent similar controversies in the future.
