Trump Lawyer Sues Fusion GPS and Buzzfeed News Over Dossier

Trump's Personal Lawyer Is Suing BuzzFeed Over That Explosive Russia Dossier

The lawyer Michael Cohen, filed the lawsuit in NY state on Tuesday, almost a year after BuzzFeed published the dossier commissioned by political opposition research firm Fusion GPS. Cohen is also taking legal action against the online media giant, asserting that both Buzzfeed and the Clinton campaign-funded Fusion GPS investigation made "false and defamatory" claims, causing "harm to his personal and professional reputation, current business interests, and the impairment of business opportunities".

On Tuesday, Trump lawyer Michael Cohen filed a lawsuit against Fusion GPS-the firm responsible for producing the Steele dossier, famously published by Buzzfeed News in January 2017. BuzzFeed published the dossier in full a year ago. Feinstein's remarks in the transcript clearly state an FBI investigation into the Trump campaign's connections with Russian Federation was already underway when Steele presented his findings, debunking a commonly held Trump campaign theory that the dossier was part of a calculated attack on Trump's credibility.

The infamous dossier, authored by former British spy Christopher Steele, has been a thorn in the side of the Trump administration because of the dossier's salacious and explosive allegations - most notably the allegations of collusion between Trump's campaign and Russian officials.

"Even though Defendant Buzzfeed expressly acknowledged the unverified (and potentially unverifiable) nature of the Dossier's allegations, BuzzFeed published the un-redacted Dossier and the Article anyway - without attempting to determine the veracity of these reports with Plaintiff himself", Cohen's lawsuit alleged. The publisher went ahead and released it four days early. Cohen said he has never been to Prague and his passport shows no visits to the Czech Republic.

Cohen, who is named in the dossier, said BuzzFeed and several of its staffers defamed him by publishing the 35-page document, which contained a mix of truths, falsehoods and unverified rumors about interactions between people close to Trump and Russian figures.

US Attorney Warns Oregon About Recreational Marijuana Boom
Almost half, 47 percent want marijuana laws determined at the state level, and only 32 percent believe it's a federal issue. Trump could give the same order; but we've seen that what one president can do by executive order, another can undo.

"Are we in the midst of a major criminal investigation against the president of the United States as a result of this dodgy dossier?"

Meanwhile, the dossier has been widely slammed and discredited, both for its unverified allegations and its dubious provenance.

Cohen is also reportedly suing Fusion GPS - the intelligence firm that commissioned the research into the alleged ties between Trump and Russian Federation - and its cofounder, Glenn Simpson.

In his op-ed, Smith asserted that the dossier provided critical context for the American public to understand the actions of the various political players in the metastasizing investigation of Trump and his campaign's ties to Russian Federation.

That was before Mr Steele gave the Federal Bureau of Investigation his own dossier of allegations about collusion.
