Trump disparages African countries, Haiti with vulgarity

Donald Trump

The Washington Post reported Thursday that President Trump, in a meeting with bipartisan lawmakers on immigration, referred to El Salvador, Haiti, and a handful of African nations as "shithole countries", while questioning why the United States couldn't receive more immigrants from countries like Norway.

Asked about the remarks, White House spokesman Raj Shah did not deny them.

If Trump can use his vile brand of "tough language" about entire nations of people, he should be willing to listen when somebody throws words like "racist" and "ignorant" right back at him, right?

As the son of a Haitian immigrants and pastor of the largely Haitian Kingdom Church in Orlando, Pastor Jacques says he's disheartened by President's Trump's comments about Haiti.

Dick Durbin of IL, the Senate' s No. 2 Democrat, explained that as part of that deal, a lottery for visas that has benefited people from Africa and other nations would be ended, the sources said, though there could be another way for them to apply. "I called him a racist and pathological liar then".

Republican Rep. Mia Love of Utah, the daughter of Haitian immigrants, said Trump's comments were "unkind, divisive, elitist and fly in the face of our nation's values".

Early in the episode, Trump met with some of the show's lawmaker characters for a gathering on immigration that was as much media spectacle as it was a serious attempt to hammer out a legislative compromise.

More than half of the state's African and El Salvadoran populations live in either Hartford or New Haven counties, while most of the Haitian population lives in Fairfield County, as do most of the state's Norwegians.

On Twitter, President Macky Sall of Senegal wrote: "I am shocked by President Trump's comments on Haiti and Africa".

"I've been working for four months on a bipartisan effort to deal with the Dreamers and DACA and immigration", Durbin said.

He said Haiti's government had summoned a U.S. official to explain Trump's remarks.

Christie: State much better off now than when he took office
In an exit interview with NJ.com, he had a message for the Garden State's voters and media. With his legacy still a matter of debate thanks to record-low approval ratings, Gov.

"I can not believe that in the history of the White House, in that Oval Office, any President has spoken the words that I personally heard our President speak yesterday".

Since the start of the twentieth century, at least 14 of the 20 presidents before Trump suffered from a significant health problem while in office, the full extents of which were kept secret in some cases, according to an analysis by Aaron Seth Kesselheim, an associate professor at Harvard Medical School.

While those missions won't stop, "if people fundamentally don't trust you and like you, it's going to change the tone of the relationship", Lewis said.

Trump has denied using that language but others present say he did.

The African Union said in its statement that while it condemn Trump's remark, maintaining a dialogue with the president was necessary to help him better understand their continent.

"He said 'Put me down for wanting more Europeans to come to this country".

Donald Trump ragging on immigrants from "sh*hole countries" in a January 11 Oval Office meeting has gotten him into some deep. well, sh*t.

Mr Trump was widely derided past year after twice referring to Namibia as "Nambia".

"To (our) partners in the worldwide community, I want to take advantage of this day to tell you all that under my leadership the country wants to take its destiny in its own hands, as I said in parliament", he added.

The sources spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to publicly describe the conversation.

Yet there's no doubt that the episode has added new fuel to the charges of racism that have dogged Trump for years, since long before he assumed the presidency. He gave Congress until March to come up with a legislative fix. He said there were "very fine people on both sides" after violence at a white supremacist rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, left one counter-protester dead.
