OnePlus 6 confirmed for June launch with Snapdragon 845 SoC

If the company plans on sticking to its release schedule from a year ago, the OnePlus 6 could arrive in June. CEO, Pete Lau, said that the company may stop selling exclusively through its website in favour of using local networks to distribute the handsets as other manufacturers do.

"If the right opportunity and right timing come along, we'll be very happy to experiment", OnePlus CEO Pete Lau told CNET when asked about their talks with USA carriers. OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei had said in an earlier interview that the company has not planned to launch OnePlus 6T yet.

Not much is known, other than the flagship processor from Qualcomm, Snapdragon 845. However Lau did say "A lot of our users don't know about the time and resources spent on a phone". He also reaffirmed that the company has yet to decide whether or not it will release more than one smartphone this year, as it has the past two. OnePlus has recently taken the mainstream smartphone market by storm and OnePlus 6 is expected to expand that even further!

Given that the company now claims that it is in talks with the USA carriers, we believe that OnePlus is serious about what CNET states is "breaking into the mainstream". "If the right opportunity and right timing come along, we'll be very happy to experiment", he said.

OnePlus became the most successful smartphone brand in the year 2017 in terms of popularity as well as breaking their sales record.

Huawei was set to announce the partnership this week at CES 2018 before AT&T is said to have pulled out of the deal at the last minute. after politicians scuppered the deal citing security concerns.

OnePlus already sells its devices on wireless carriers in other countries (such as O2 in the United Kingdom), but following the recent Huawei situation, OnePlus could be faced with a similar uphill battle. We may see the next OnePlus flagship in May or June this year.

There are rumours already that suggest that the OnePlus 6 will be powered by the upcoming Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor. As already reported, this deal fell through and the Chinese firm's CEO blasted US carriers for the failed arrangement.
