A fiery crash Wednesday involving three semis shut down all lanes on Interstate 65 in Seymour, according to newsgathering partner WAVE 3 News.

The accident happened on January 10th at approximately 4:30 a.m.in Seymour, Indiana.

According to Indiana State Police, the interstate was closed due to power lines being down at Chase Street in northwest Indiana.

"That then in turn pushed that truck and tractor and trailer into another vehicle, also a tractor trailer", Wheeles said.

Wheeles said one of those semis was carrying hazardous chemicals.

The crash occurred along a rural stretch of the highway surrounded by farm fields and a horse farm, but authorities evacuated homes within a half mile as a precaution.

Crews began to back off, even asking people nearby to evacuate.

Police are still investigating the crash. Troopers say a passenger in one of the trucks was hurt but expected to recover.
