United Nations meeting on Iran protests called by USA criticized at Security Council

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Khamenei claims foreign plot to overthrow system has failed

Iranian Ayatollah Ali Khamenei's official Twitter account posted a string of 11 tweets on Tuesday, all of them criticizing what the revolutionary leader claimed was a US -led conspiracy that had manifested itself in violent anti-government protests.

Talking to Fox News, CIA Director Mike Pompeo said it is Iran's internal problems and not the USA that triggered the protests.

The US damage inflicted on Iran by US will gain a response, said the Leader during a meeting with a group of people from the city of Qom.

Pro-government rallies have been held across the country since late December, according to Iranian state media, following several days of opposition protests which sparked violence that left 21 dead.

The United States has rejected Tehran's claims that Washington or US intelligence agencies have been behind the protests. The Shah was, in turn, overthrown in the 1979 Iranian Revolution.

He then went on to pursue a career in music that was continuously marked by negative reactions. Katy commented that it's a really high song to sing, as Luke launched into a falsetto.

In a series of tweets from his official account, Khamenei accused Iran's adversaries of supporting the rallies. "Once again, the nation tells the US, Britain, and those who seek to overthrow the Islamic Republic of Iran from overseas that 'you've failed, and you will fail in the future, too'". The scheme was formed by the USA and Zionists.

Khamenei said that "people's honest and rightful demands" must be separated from "the violent and vandalizing moves by a certain group". Citing what he said were Iranian intelligence reports, he said that "there's been a triangle pattern activating these events". He claimed the MKO had been "hired as minions for this plot".

Khamenei also rejected Trump's claim that Iran's Islamic establishment was "terrified" by USA power.

In a direct hit at US President Donald Trump, who tweeted in favor of the protesters, Khamenei said, "The US president says the Iranian establishment is terrified by their power".

Khamenei continued, "US officials have started talking nonsense: The US president says the Iranian establishment is frightened by its people. No". "For some people, it's unbearable and they reach a point they can't endure", he said.
