Panthers offensive coordinator, QB coach relieved of their duties

Just before noon, the Carolina Panthers tweeted that Shula and Dorsey were released from the team.

The Panthers fired their longtime offensive coordinator and also cut ties with quarterbacks coach Ken Dorsey on Tuesday, two days after a playoff loss to the New Orleans Saints. He also has two family members already on Rivera's staff - his brother, Ron, an offensive consultant, and nephew Cameron, the assistant quarterbacks coach.

Shula was originally hired by the Panthers at the conclusion of the 2010 season in order to serve as the franchise's quarterbacks coach.

Shula has been with Carolina for the last seven years, spending his first two seasons with the team as the quarterbacks coach before becoming offensive coordinator in 2013.

A senior police officer told mid-day that the accused were identified after an autorickshaw driver came forward with some doubts. The police officials reached the spot and rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead before admission.

It's unclear who will take over as the OC for the Panthers. A spokesperson with the Carolina Panthers said Dorsey was a "former record-setting quarterback" at the University of Miami.

"After 2016's 6-10 finish, Rivera was under internal pressure to make a coordinator change. That evolution never happened as the Panthers struggled to establish an identity this season". Carolina finished 19th in total offense with 323.7 yards per game and 28th in passing offense with an average of 192.3 yards per game.

But both have paid the price for a poor passing season, the Panthers finishing 28th in the National Football League in passing yards and failing to take advantage of their fourth-ranked rushing game.
