Floyd Mayweather dismisses UFC talk, Conor McGregor disappointed

The Floyd Mayweather/UFC talk has been around ever since his boxing match with Conor McGregor. The UFC may have accounted for Conor McGregor becoming big enough to call all his own shots and wait until it was the flawless deal to come back, but the same thing happened indirectly to Nate Diaz.

UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson has called out Floyd Mayweather Jr. and said he would even be willing to fight him with a handicap. How much of that was true remains to be seen, but we do know one thing resided in the realm of fact: The UFC was, indeed, speaking with Mayweather about a potential run inside the Octagon.

The 40-year-old then categorically ruled out any chance of fighting in the UFC, so fight fans will be glad that the insane talk is now over.

However, continuing the trend of making conflicting statements, the 40-year old has backtracked on his previous comments by, saying, "I'm not going to do it" - which led to McGregor aiming a subtle dig at him.

Mayweather spoke earlier this month about how he could make $1 billion if he was to fight in the UFC and reiterated this. If I chose to get in the UFC and fight three fights or fight four fights and then fight Conor McGregor, I could make a billion dollars, which I can. "I'm just saying I could - I'm not doing it, but I'm saying what I could do to make a billion dollars quick".

White had stated that Mayweather's signing was "a realistic possibility", just days after Mayweather had said he could make another billion dollars by fighting in the UFC. I'm saying if I wanted to, what I could do. Could and would do is different things. "I'm not going to do it though".

So, take that how you want, but it doesn't really sound like there's been any real movement, in terms of getting Diaz back in the cage. I could make a billion dollars. I never said I was gonna fight in the UFC.

Both White and Mayweather are known to choose their words carefully to promote the most amount of controversy possible.

The post has already been retweeted 27,000 times since it was posted late last night and The Notorious followed it up with a picture of himself holding the UFC Lightweight and Featherweight belts.
