Coalition raids hit Yemen rebels after missile targets Riyadh

"The worldwide community must demonstrate that we are committed to ensuring accountability for the full spectrum of Iran's malign behavior".

The Saudi-led coalition fighting Yemen's Shia rebels said it intercepted a missile fired over southern Riyadh on Tuesday, which the rebels said was targeting a "top leadership" meeting at the royal palace in the kingdom's capital.

The coalition had said came under heavy worldwide criticism, leading to the blockade being eased.

But Russia's deputy United Nations ambassador, Vladimir Safronkov, said that what is needed to implement the resolution on the nuclear deal is "to abandon the language of threats and sanctions, and to start using the instruments of dialogue - and concentrate on broadening cooperation and mutual trust".

Saudi Arabia has not confirmed this account or whether a meeting of its leaders was taking place. The Houthis, who are allied with Saudi Arabia's rival, Iran, have forced into exile the Saudi-backed and internationally recognized government of President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi.

"The enemies had their own mirage calculations ... but over 1,000 days, there has been this great steadfastness", said Abdel-Malek al-Houthi, a Houthi leader, in a speech on the group's Al-Masirah TV.

Meanwhile Yemen has also been under air and ground attack by Saudi Arabia and its allies since March 2015, a conflict that has so far killed more than 10,000 people, more than half of them are civilians, according to worldwide aid agencies.

In 2011, an appeals court ruled against his petition, and in 2012 The US Supreme Court refused to hear his appeal of that ruling. More than 30 members of Congress also wrote letters on Rubashkin's behalf, according to the White House .

The United Arab Emirates, underscored the need to keep the military campaign in Yemen going.

Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri condemned the attack, saying such actions exacerbated divisions in the region.

The coalition had accused Iran of sending the missile that was sacked towards Riyadh in November, and the United States last week displayed what it said was evidence that it was provided by Iran.

Residents of Riyadh posted videos on social media Tuesday showing a small cloud of smoke in the sky after hearing a loud explosion.

On Nov. 30, Saudi Arabia shot down another missile near its southwestern city of Khamis Mushait.

"We remain deeply disturbed by aggressive Houthi actions supported by Iran's provision of advanced weapons, which threaten regional security and prolong the Yemen conflict", State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert said.

Last week, the United States presented for the first time pieces of what it said were Iranian weapons supplied to the Houthis, describing them as conclusive evidence that Tehran was violating U.N. resolutions.
