New Windows 10 Insider build lets you try Timeline

Microsoft has now rolled out a significant Windows 10 update to testers.

Microsoft has officially launched the first public trial of its Timeline system, a Windows 10 feature which allows users to switch their tasks between devices - including Android and iOS mobile devices - on-the-fly. This Timeline feature was originally shown off and expected to land as part of the Windows 10 Fall Creators Update, but that never happened. Office (starting with Mail & Calendar and OneNote), Windows, and Edge become more integrated to create a seamless experience, so you can get back to what's important and be productive, recapturing that moment, saving time - we believe that's the true value of Sets.

You would need to signup to Microsoft's Insider program, which gives you access to this version, Build 1073.

Google's Chrome ad blocker is coming, but may be ineffectual
The native ad blocker in Chrome will block all ads on a webpage even if a single ad doesn't follow the aforementioned standards. The coalition says these ads are "least preferred" by users and make them more likely to install ad blockers.

Alongside its presence on PCs, Timeline allows you to resume your past activities on other Windows 10 devices. Moreover, Microsoft is also testing out "Sets", its tabbed window feature.

Sets is being tested with a small number of Insiders, however, so there's a good chance you won't have access to it yet. It enables a tabbed interface so that users can perform different activities in a single window, which makes workflows easier and less cluttered. It's very much tabbed browsing but for every Windows 10 app. There is now support for Service Workers by default as Microsoft moves towards Progressive Web Apps that run on Windows 10 with Edge. This is all in the testing phase and is only available to Windows Insiders on the Fast Ring and those who opted to Skip Ahead.

This build includes a ton of other updates, including a sleeker dark theme for Edge, an improved Cortana Notebook, a split touch keyboard, and greater use of Microsoft's new Fluent design principles throughout the OS. Now you can finally close apps without worrying-with Timeline, you can get right back to where you left off, ' claims Microsoft's Dona Sarkar in the announcement published late last night. Even the My People section of Windows 10 is seeing some tweaks, with a drag and drop rearrange feature and the ability to decide how many people are pinned to the taskbar. UWP versions of Maps, News, Money, Sports, and Weather also support the Timeline feature. Microsoft has been battling for years to fix DPI scaling issues in Windows, and the company is now introducing a new setting in the display settings to let Windows automatically fix scaling for apps.
