Omarosa Manigault Newman to Leave White House Job Next Month

Omarosa Manigault

January 20 is set to be her last day, according to a statement from White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

The former reality TV star, whose duties in the Trump administration were never especially clear, has handed in her resignation. Her brash and manipulative persona on the show both endeared her to Trump and made her a must-watch character.

Manigault Newman, one of Trump's most high-profile African-American supporters, will leave one year to the day after Trump took office, Sanders said.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, Newman rallied crowds ahead of the then-candidate, traveling the country with an informal group of other "women for Trump" to make the case for the candidate.

Manigault-Newman's departure was teased before the initial announcement by White House reporters, who also passed along rumors that she was sacked. Manigault Newman's decision comes at the start of what's expected to be a round of departures heading into the new year. But she clashed at times with the Washington political establishment in the White House. "He's burned all his bridges", the source said.
