IPhones may get reversible emoji in 2018

You could soon be able to change the direction of your emojis

New emoji sequences, which are used for variations on a single emoji (like the skin tone variations), were added as well, giving the superhero and supervillain two gender options, skin tone options for leg and foot and 48 new sequences for man and woman, which include skin tone variations and hairstyle options.

This most recent list is the latest iteration of an ongoing discussion on what should be included in the upcoming update.

Emoji which failed to make the cut range from a smiley face with "OK" in place of eyes, another face with question marks as eyes and a 'frowning pile of poo'.

In addition to the new figures themselves, Unicode 11 also proposes support for reversible emoji. This may not seem super significant, but when these icons are interspersed throughout a text message, sometimes flipping an emoji around can give a sentence a different, or more clear meaning.

According to the statement above, it seems as if not every emoji will be flippable. The full list of emoji candidates can be seen here. A slew of emojis are already available, and plenty more are about to make their way to the market next year.

Doulapur is located in Siddipet district, within the Gajwel constituency, which is represented by Chief Minister K. The Times of India report added that unemployement was cited as a reason for the suicide by the student leaders.

The proposal to include this change in a future round of Unicode's emoji updates is just a draft at this point and might not ever become a feature on your phone. The final list will be confirmed in the first quarter of next year, with a decision in January and an announcement in March.

The Unicode Consortium is the body which standardises and maintains how characters such as emoji appear across differing platforms, such as on Apple's iOS and Google's Android software.

According to a report from Emojipedia, the Unicode Consortium has officially released the 2018 emoji candidate list in beta.

Developers can now access Emoji 11.0 data files from Unicode in order to test and provide feedback. In Apple's iOS, it's rendered the way it is in the image at the top of this post.
