On October 20, assistant registrar civil-II of the Supreme Court returned Nawaz Sharif constitutional petition in original along with paper books being not entertainable on grounds that Nawaz Sharif had already exhausted all legal remedies in the apex court.

The plea maintains that the type, witnesses and accusations of all the three cases are alike however; the accountability court had rejected a similar petition in the past.

The ousted premier through his representative also pleaded the IHC to declare the NAB court's ruling as unlawful, besides consolidation of three graft references. He has made state through chairman NAB and the accountability court judge respondents in the petition.

The Sharif family is facing four corruption and money laundering cases regarding their off-shore holdings that include the Avenfield, Azizia Steel Mills, Hill Metal Company, Flagship Investments, Hartstone properties, Que Holdings, Quint Eaton Place 2, Quint Saloane, Quaint, Flagship Securities, Quint Gloucester Place, Quint Paddington, Flagship Developments, Alanna Services (BVI), Lankin SA (BVI), Chadron, Ansbacher, Coomber and Capital FZE, Dubai in the accountability court in Islamabad.

However, Sharif's lawyer Zafir Khan - who was representing him in his absence - pleaded "not guilty" soon after the charged was framed.

Sharif's political future has been in doubt since July when the Supreme Court sacked him following an investigation into corruption allegations against his family, making him the 15th premier in Pakistan's 70-year history to be ousted before completing a full term.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif should be placed on the Exit Control List (ECL), argued Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday.

NAB's Rawalpindi branch prepared two references regarding the Azizia Steel Mills and Hill Metals Establishment, and the almost dozen companies owned by the Sharif family.

Sharif's daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar are nominated in a single corruption reference in connection with London properties.
