Start of production on Sony's Venom teased via social media

Tom Hardy will play Venom using performance capture More

Just under a year before it's due in theaters, cameras have started rolling on Sony's long-promised Venom movie. For Sony, the Powers That Be made the headlines through the casting of Tom Hardy, star of Mad Max and Peaky Blinders, as Eddie Brock, one of the unfortunate (fortunate?) sods who winds up wrangling the Venom symbiote under control.

Jeff Pinkner (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) and Kelly Marcel (Fifty Shades of Grey) wrote the script for Venom, which has Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad) directing.

Riz Ahmed, Michelle Williams, and Reid Scott are also attached to star in the comic book spin-off.

We don't know exactly how things will all shake out but we do know that production for the movie is now underway thanks to a recent tweet by the film's official Twitter account.
