Aaron Judge hits 49th, 50th HRs, breaking McGwire's rookie record

Judge tied the record by driving a Jakob Junis fastball into the lower right-field seats in the third inning of an afternoon makeup game against the Kansas City Royals. Judge, the Yankees' hulking right fielder, bashed his 49th and 50th home runs of the season, tying and then breaking the rookie record set by Oakland's Mark McGwire in 1987. After striking out in the fifth, Judge broke the mark in his second chance at a 50th homer against Trevor Cahill. Robinson went on to hit 586 home runs on his way to a Hall of Fame induction in 1982.

Judge, who also ripped two home runs on Sunday in Toronto, now has gone deep 13 times in September after hitting just three homers with a.185 batting average in August.
